Students: Register for the Online Spelling Bee

Dear Parents/Guardians,
Does your child want to participate in our school spelling bee this year? Maybe even represent our school at the county level?

This year, spelling bees will be online. To register your child for the online spelling bees this year, please follow these directions:

  1. The first step to spelling bee participation is for you to register for the Scripps National Spelling Bee’s online testing platform by visiting https://online-test.spellingbee.com. (I encourage you to watch this video tutorial that will walk you through the registration process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ThKRsffiFc)
  2. Once you have registered, I will be able to assign the appropriate level test to your child. Your child must complete the FIRST TEST before the deadline of January 22, 2021, and these tests can be taken on any device with a web browser, including desktop computers, laptops, tablets and smart phones.
  3. The top 50 students with the highest score from the FIRST TEST will move on to compete at the SCHOOL LEVEL TEST on January 28 – 29, 2021. This year, our school-level competition will be administered online.

Our school champion will then move on to represent Granger Junior in the San Diego County regional spelling bee program, which also may include online tests in lieu of in-person spelling bee events.

Please register at your earliest convenience. If you have already registered in the online testing platform for another child, you can log in to your account and add an additional child to that same parent account. There is no need to register a different email address for each child in your household.

Please contact Laura Luchau for any questions.
